Welcome to
HEARTSONG HILL HUNGRY GOATS
targeted grazing for a weed-free landscape

WHO WE ARE
There are seven goats in the Heartsong Hill herd; six Nigerian Dwarf and one Mini-Nubian. They are all 3-year-old wethers (castrated males) and love to eat! They live near Stephens City, VA in the northern Shenandoah Valley in 5 acres of woods.
WHY TARGETED GRAZING?

Targeted grazing (TG) is the careful use of livestock to manage vegetation. By manipulating the time, extent, and duration of grazing, invasive plants can be eliminated. By controlling the invasive plants, native habitat can be restored. Livestock can also reduce fire risk by eliminating the vegetative fuel to form a fire break.
TG is a long-term approach and may require multiple years to improve ecological restoration and reduce the weed seeds.
